Hello Harmony parents and students! I am Kirsten Murphy, your 2016-2017 school counselor. I am originally from Oldham County, attending Liberty Elementary, North Oldham Middle School, and South Oldham High School. After finishing high school, I attended the University of Kentucky where I received my bachelor's in Education. Upon graduating from UK, I attained a job at a Stonewall Elementary in Lexington, in which I had the pleasure of teaching both 1st and 4th grades. Although I truly enjoyed my time in Lexington, I knew after 5 years I was ready to move back to Louisville. Returning to Oldham County, I received a teaching position at Camden Station Elementary where I have been for the past 3 years, working with both 3rd grade and Kindergarten. While acquiring a total of 8 years of experience as an educator, I was traveling to  Eastern Kentucky University where I received my masters and Rank I in School Counseling. 

As Harmony School Counselor I hope to bring my experiences as a teacher to the table in order to help all students and stakeholders meet goals and achievements. A successful guidance program emphasizes student’s strengths and positive attributes. By emphasizing such qualities in students I hope to build their self-esteem and confidence. It is a personal goal to find the lovable qualities in each and every one of my students, and show them that using their unique talents can equal success in any and all aspects of life.

As a School Counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and personal/social domains:

•Classroom Guidance

•Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and students

•Provide resources and information to parents on a variety of issues
